Thanksgiving

Olivia's first Thanksgiving was spent at Grandpa and Grandma Hurst's house in Juniper. It was gloriously filled with lots of food and laziness...no complaints here. Olivia spent Thanksgiving dinner asleep (also no complaints) which gave me ample freedom to stuff my pie hole with well, pie.

Here we have Olivia sucking it up while we get a picture of her and Grandpa

Thank you Uncle Brad for teaching this tongue "trick" to my daughter

Olivia also played the piano during our visit...she didn't know quite what to think of it.
She did however end up playing some pretty awesome horror flick music thanks in large part to Auntie Jerica

pumpkin snowmen

I saw a segment on the Today Show where they made pumpkins into penguins and I thought why not make the little pumpkins into little snowmen...so here they are, white spray paint and pins
I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the hats and arms...any ideas?

Deener Time

While watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (or more accurately the hosts babbling) I saw a commercial for Pillsbury crescent spirals...so I decided to try them.
I kinda twisted the recipe to suit my own liking...(but I did also try pepperoni and cheese and they were delicious dipped in pizza sauce). I used canned chicken and mixed it with Franks Red Hot sauce and pepper jack cheese. Serve them with a side salad and a bit of ranch for dipping and voila! Deener is served.
Find the full recipe on www.pillsbury.com
P.S. Fred Meyer sells the crescent seamless sheets that are tons easier to handle than the crescent rolls.

mmmmm...Apple Crisp

APPLE CRISP
yum yum
12 medium sized granny smith apples, thinly sliced
juice of 2 lemons
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup melted butter
6 tablespoons flour
4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
TOPPING:
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup sugar
12 tablespoons butter,
cut into small pieces
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1. Toss sliced apples with lemon juice to coat well. Add 1 cup sugar and the brown sugar, 1/2 cup melted butter, flour and spices, stir until mixture is well blended.
2. In a food processor, combine topping ingredients; pulse until mixture is crumbly. You can also use a pastry blender or fork to cut this mixture together.
3. Pour apple mixture into a lightly greased 13x9 baking dish. Sprinkle topping mix evenly over top of apples.
4. Place in preheated 375F oven. Bake for about 45 to 60 minutes, until apples are tender and topping is browned.

P.S. Liv loves apples

Photo Wall

While at Suzi's I admired her Photo Wall...
I MUST have one!

I chose the wall that I wanted to make over but didn't want to make swiss cheese out of said wall
what to do, what to do...
Command velcro strips were the answer
(thanks mom)

 Wall before...

Wall after
I may still add to it a bit
but for now I'm happy...now if I only had pictures for all the frames

Get you some

Liv has found a way to get around on her back...
She arches her back

then pushes with her feet

She is going to get rug burn on her scalp and rub off all the hair from her head soon...

but she gets what shes going for.

She's getting so big!

At only 4 months and 3 weeks Olivia has decided that she wants to become mobile...I'm not sure how I feel about this.  I don't want to baby proof the house yet. I guess the sooner she walks the sooner she will be able to do things for me. Might as well put her little diapered toosh to work!

She is a pro at pushing up with her arms and she is starting to push her lower body up with her legs, its only a matter of time before she puts the two together and starts crawling while I'm in the middle of something and don't realize she's tearing up the house. Can't wait!

We're ready for Fall

It got cold for like a minute...thats not ok!!
If it would stay in the 60's so that we can live in our comfy hoodies
we would be ok with that.

Nevertheless...we are in denile and wear our hoodies and hats out
whenever we leave the house...even to get mail.
So bring it on Mother Nature!!!

Halloween is coming too fast!

Olivia is going as Pebbles and Caleb will be going as BamBam...I should start looking for the hair and bone, not to mention some felt to tape to her clothes...I'm not the biggest fan of Halloween but since I have someone to dress up other than myself I'm ok with it. I'm not too sure why we are taking infants trick-or-treating...meh.

Addictions: we all have them

Addictions I can't get enough of:

Baked goodies...yum

Hot Sauce!

(I'm pretty much making up for lost time...

I couldn't eat it when I was pregnant)

I can't get enough coffee

(and since it has antioxidents I'm ok with it)

Addictions I can't afford:

Eating out
(I love me some Romano Crusted Chicken)

MAC make-up
(well, make-up in general really)

Shoes...I love heels!

What are you addicted too?

Thats right...I gave in

For those of you who are thinking "really? Kristen has a blog?! what has this world come to?" I admit I hated blogs, but since my (not so little) bundle of joy has arrived I feel that I may have something to talk about....aaaaaand I LOVE reading Suzi's blog so here goes...

How could you keep this precious face to yourself?
